The Process
-
When you come to Hue Therapy, your first session will be spent with you and your therapist getting to know each other and defining clear goals for your counselling journey. Leading on from this, you will be asked about your personal history with a view to contextualising any difficulties you are facing.
Regardless of what you’re dealing with, you will be received in a warm and caring environment where you will be assisted and encouraged to explore and share your experiences. During your sessions, you will at times be directed to stop and acknowledge how the physical feelings of what you are talking about manifest in your body. This is intended to bring your awareness into the present and notice feelings you might not be aware of.
These physical feeling states may then be explored with regard to your past experiences and relationships with a view to questioning their origin. You will then be assisted in developing tools and strategies that will help you manage emotional triggers so that you can start to feel safer in your body and gain greater control over your feelings.
-
This is a difficult question to answer as there is no prescribed time frame for any individual. Instead, we adopt a holistic approach that sees counselling as a personal journey, encompassing a range of factors that reflect the goals of the individual. Every session is different, therefore we measure the outcomes of each one, reviewing progress and identifying continuing challenges on an individual basis. At Hue, we leave room for open dialogue and frequently engage in reflective conversations to promote a positive and productive therapeutic relationship.
-
The purpose of this session is about getting to know your therapist and figuring out if they are the right fit for you. Much research has shown that the relationship between a client and therapist is a core building block for success. Your first session will typically involve you verbalising why you have come to therapy, clarifying some of your goals, then getting to know your therapist by learning about the work they do. You are welcome to share whatever you are experiencing and what you feel comfortable sharing.
-
This depends on you and what you feel is required. However, your therapist may make a recommendation and discuss this with you depending on your needs.
-
This can sometimes occur if it has been found suitable for the client and their therapeutic needs. If this is required, it will be discussed and agreed upon on an individual basis.

At Hue, our therapists are registered with governing bodies in both Australia and Denmark. Their role is to support clients in managing issues or complaints they might have about the therapeutic intervention they are receiving.
Client feedback is encouraged during and after sessions to support both the client and therapist in addressing any thoughts or concerns either party might be experiencing.
This reflective process is fundamental in supporting the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. It also helps ensure the client is where they want to be in their therapeutic journey.
However, if a client feels their needs are not being heard or attended to during this process, there are governing bodies to provide support.
